NON-SURGICAL TREATMENT

Salicylic Acid Peel

We know that variations in skin oil levels, pores and breakouts are a natural part of life for many people. We also understand that some people may wish to discuss options that address the appearance of congestion and oil-prone skin.

Our clinic can provide consultations about Salicylic Acid Peel treatments. During consultation, a practitioner will assess your concerns, review your medical history and discuss whether this cosmetic procedure or another option may be appropriate.

A Salicylic Acid Peel is a clinician-performed cosmetic peel using beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) applied to the skin in a clinical setting.

During the procedure:

If considered appropriate, ultrasound skin tightening may be performed using a device with imaging to:

Treatment planning, including peel strength, contact time and treatment frequency, is determined after consultation and clinical assessment.

In some cases, your practitioner may recommend a different approach or no procedure.

It is a clinician-performed cosmetic peel using salicylic acid (a beta-hydroxy acid) to provide controlled exfoliation and address the visible appearance of congested, oily or breakout-prone skin.

Your clinician monitors your comfort and can adjust contact time as needed.

The timing and degree of visible change vary between individuals, and no specific outcome can be guaranteed.

You are usually advised to wait around 24 hours before applying makeup to allow the skin to settle. When you do apply cosmetics, non-comedogenic products are generally recommended. Your clinician will provide personalised advice.

Frequency is individualised and may be adjusted over time.

In some cases, LED therapy may be used after the peel (once the skin is assessed) to support comfort and visible calming. Your clinician will advise if combining treatments is appropriate for your skin on the day.

Suitability is always determined case by case.

Aftercare typically includes:

  • Keeping the skin hydrated with gentle, non-irritating products
  • Avoiding other exfoliants or strong actives for several days
  • Avoiding heat and intense exercise for at least 48 hours, or as advised
  • Applying broad-spectrum SPF 50+ daily and limiting sun exposure

Your practitioner will provide a clear written plan tailored to the peel and your skin.

All cosmetic procedures carry risks and may not be suitable for everyone.

Before any procedure is performed, your practitioner will:

  • review your medical history, medications and relevant health information

  • examine the treatment area

  • explain the proposed procedure, limitations and alternatives, including choosing not to proceed

  • discuss possible risks and side effects, including less common but more serious complications

Risks associated with procedures may include:

  • Dryness, redness, tightness or flaking

  • Increase in breakouts as pores clear

  • Pigment change or more persistent irritation, particularly if aftercare is not followed or if the skin is very sensitive

Pain and comfort levels vary between individuals and depend on the procedure used. Some procedures may cause sensations such as pressure, tightness or discomfort during or after treatment.

Written aftercare instructions will be provided if treatment is performed.
